Sacred Ground SM2 (1)

Join us for a dialogue series exploring race and racism in the United States. This spiritual journey will consider the roots of racism and its on-going development in discussions supported by video and readings. It is grounded in the examples of Jesus Christ and the power of scripture, prayer, God’s grace, and the Holy Spirit.

As part of Becoming a Beloved Community, an initiative of the Episcopal Church begun in 2019, Sacred Ground holds a vision wherein all people are honored, protected, and nurtured as beloved children of God. Our study will include historical information about indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian-American histories as they intersect with European-American histories in shaping our country.

This new circle will meet on Sunday evenings starting at 5:30 p.m. After our individual preparations for each session, we will gather for conversations lasting about one hour and a half every other week between May 3 and June 28 and between September 13 and November 22 in 2026. We will begin with an organizational meeting on April 19 via Zoom. Our host will be Christ Church, Hudson. Our conversations will be in person and, if there is a need, also via Zoom. The co-facilitators are The Very Rev. Jane Brady-Close and Susanna Grannis, Ph.D.

Members and friends of Episcopal churches in the Hudson Valley Deanery (Columbia and Greene counties) are invited to join us.  Space is limited.
