The River Duo
Kathryn Aldous, Violin & Jay Shulman, Cello

The Program will include masterworks for string duet by Stamitz, Händel, Glière, Elgar & Others.
English violinist Kathryn Aldous was educated at Cambridge University and the
Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Kathryn has been a member of English
String Orchestra and RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in Ireland. Kathryn moved to
the Hudson Valley in 2010, and plays with the Vermont Symphony, Albany Symphony,
American Symphony Orchestra, and teaches and plays at Bard College.
Cellist Jay Shulman was born to a musical family in New York and attended Syracuse
University and Colby College’s Hungarian String Quartet summer seminar. Jay was a
36-year member of the Long Island Philharmonic, is active as a chamber music player,
recitalist and teacher, and has produced 9 CD reissues of the music of his father, cellist,
arranger and composer Alan Shulman.
Proceeds benefit the artists & the historic building preservation, cultural & community
programs of the Friends of Historic Christ Church Conservancy.

Leaders and those who wish to be led are all welcome to attend.

Schedule:
20 minutes - Brief presentation about using music in civil disobedience + Q&A
70 minutes - play along, song sheets provided.
30 minutes - Time to socialize, network and snack!

The Friends of Historic Christ Church

FRIENDS OF HISTORIC CHRIST CHURCH CONSERVANCY, INC., is a not-for-profit corporation formed to support historic building preservation along with cultural and community programs at Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson, New York.  The Conservancy was incorporated under New York Not-For-Profit Corporation Law on August 15, 1997, and is tax-exempt under IRS section 501(c)(3).

The primary program wing of the Conservancy is Christ Church Arts.  CCA was created to celebrate the Hudson area’s vibrant and diverse community - welcoming all regardless of background, identity or ability - and to support community members in their artistic endeavors.  Previous events include artist Philip Schwartz’s Shoah exhibition, and annual celebration of Pulitzer prize winning poet John Ashbery’s birthday developed in partnership with the Flow Chart Foundation, the presentation of the play Censored:Banned Books and Freedom of Speech by Carolyn Kay Brancato, and the debut of "Lullay, Lullow: An intimate evening of Ancient Christmas Music" by New York early music ensemble Consensus.
